Hemgraven - Sanddyner av glas

Hemgraven is a Swedish post-punk outfit that formed in Sundsvall in 2011 and later relocated themselves to Stockholm. Last year they released the eponymous EP, so Sanddyner av glas serves as their second release.

'Sanddyner av glas' is released as a cassette and is filled with dark and atmospheric post-punk tunes. The recipe might repeat itself a bit but it never gets boring or repetitive as Hemgraven masters the art of creating dark and atmospheric moods in their songs. They are build up around heavy drumming and bass rhythms surrounded by synths and effect-driven guitars, not unlike the Modern English masterpiece 'Mesh & Lace'. They sing in Swedish which gives it a kind of esoteric feel that suits the sound quite well. It's hard to point out a favourite song as they all have great things to offer. 'Överallt, ingenstans' was the first to catch my attention, but after having listened to 'Kains irrläror' a couple of times, I have to admit that that's where you get the greatest melody.

This could very well be one of the best releases of 2014, so i would highly recommend buying this cassette before it's out of print.

Listen to the cassette here.
